Belvedere Du Terreiro Da Luta

Designed by architect Emanuel Ribeiro, the monument was erected as a fulfilment of a promise made by the people of Madeira during the German submarine attacks on Funchal in 1917. Carved from marble, this statue in honour of Nossa Senhora do Monte forms a cherished part of the island’s cultural and emotional heritage.
